Nicklas Lidstrom (80,903 votes) and Henrik Zetterberg (58,074) lead Western Conference defensemen and forwards, respectively, in the first-round of voting for the 2008 All-Star Game in
Some players shrug off the notice, and ultimately would rather have that weekend off rather than play in the exhibition.
Not Zetterberg. He missed the opportunity to play last year when his herniated disc began bothering him.
Zetterberg has yet to play in an All-Star Game, so he's looking forward to being part of the festivities.
"It would be awesome to play there," Zetterberg said of the Jan. 27 game. "It's still a long ways off, but if I'm healthy, I'm going."
As for the votes, Zetterberg said, "It's always nice to be voted in."

After a pointless showing in a 1-0 loss against the Blues on February 8th, 2007, Hank went on a career-longest point streak of 24 games, in which he had 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points. Seven of the games were last season prior to Henrik suffering a season-ending lower back injury, in which he missed 19 games. He opened this season with a franchise record 17 game point scoring streak, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists, totaling a league-leading 27 points. But on November 13th it was the Blues again that shockingly brought both points streaks to an end. Prior to that game, Zetterberg had 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points and was a (plus/minus) +18 in 23 career games versus the Blues.

Zetterberg is emerging as one of the best in the League in his own right. The 27-year-old forward paced the Red Wings with 33 goals last season and is entering the prime of his career.

Detroit Red Wings star forward Henrik Zetterberg scored his 14th goal of the season and added and assist (15th) in a 5-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at the Joe Louis Arena.
The points extend Zetterberg’s home-game point streak to 25 games, dating back to December 9th, 2006 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I was getting the feeling that tonight just wasn’t his night. It was beginning to look as if Henrik Zetterberg’s season-opening point-scoring streak was going to end at 15 games. But then, with just 1:28 left in tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Joe Louis Arena, Henrik scored a goal against Pascal Leclaire, one of the NHL’s hottest goalies, to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-1 win.

As the NHL season skates along Red Wing superstar Henrik Zetterberg continues to compile awards. His latest award came when he was named the ‘Hardest Working’ Player of the Month for October. He received his award from Carhartt sponsorship and event specialist Sanja Zarubica during a pre-game ceremony on November 9.
During the 2007-08 regular-season, Carhartt will present the monthly award to the hardest working Red Wings’ player, along with Carhartt merchandise. The award will recognize the player for his hard work and individual dedication to commitment necessary to excel on the ice.
The Red Wings’ coaching staff and front office personnel will select recipients.
Through the month of October, Zetterberg led the league in total points with 22 (10 goals, 12 assists), helping the Wings to an impressive 10-2-1 record. He recorded seven multiple-point games, including three-point efforts against

"It's been going good, but I think the whole team is playing good," Zetterberg said, shrugging off such grandiose dreams that he might need to rent a tux for the NHL awards show. "When you play with good players, it's easy to be good yourself.
"I play a lot of minutes, get a lot of opportunity on the power play and it's been clicking."
It's a far cry from a season ago, when Zetterberg recorded just three points through his first 11 games. This time around, Wings coach Mike Babcock quickly put his two aces, Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, together on the top line with Holmstrom.
"People ask me all the time, 'Is Hank going to lead the league in scoring?" Babcock said. "If the team wins and he does that, great, but that (statistics) doesn't seem to be a big goal. Winning seems to be the biggest goal."
For that reason, the belief is that Zetterberg simply won't be up with the front-runners at the finish line, but Zetterberg's most daunting foe may not be history, but rather himself. The streak breaks a Detroit Red Wings record set by Norm Ullman, who had a 14 game point scoring streak to start the 1960-61 season.

Through his team's first 14 games of the season, Zetterberg has been downright prolific, leading the league in both goals (12) and points (24). Zetterberg has recorded at least a point in every game this season to tie a Red Wings record for longest point streak to begin a campaign, along with Norm Ulman, who achieved the same feat in the 1960-61 season.
For his efforts, Zetterberg was named the NHL's No. 1 star for the month of October. Zetterberg's lightning-quick start to the season has some hockey pundits proclaiming that "Zata" (the letter Z in Swedish) is now the best player in the National Hockey League.
The rate at which Zetterberg's points are coming this season is astounding, but it's not like the forward was an unknown entity heading into the campaign.
Zetterberg's best season in the NHL came in the first year after the lockout, when he notched 85 points (39 goals, 46 assists) while playing in 77 games. However, last year was a bit of a disappointment, as he notched 68 points (33g, 35a) and missed a big chunk of the season due to back spasms. Henrik Zetterberg did it again tonight, scoring the game-winning goal and adding another in the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames tonight. With the two goals, Zetterberg now leads the NHL with 12 goals and has 12 assists for a league-leading 24 points in 14 straight games to start the 2007-08 season. The streak of at least one point in each game so far this season (14) ties a Detroit Red Wings franchise record set by Norm Ullman in 1960. Additionally, Zetterberg has scored at least one point in 21 straight games dating back to February 11th, 2007 versus the Flames.
Henrik’s first goal of the match, scored at 10:44 of the first period, gave the Wings a 2-1 lead and ended up being the game-winner, remarkably his first of the year. Pavel Datsyuk battled for the puck along the left boards and chipped a back-handed pass that bounced to Zetterberg who was open in the left face-off circle.
