All-Star Recognition

By Ted Kulfan, Detroit News, November 23, 2007

Nicklas Lidstrom (80,903 votes) and Henrik Zetterberg (58,074) lead Western Conference defensemen and forwards, respectively, in the first-round of voting for the 2008 All-Star Game in Atlanta.

Some players shrug off the notice, and ultimately would rather have that weekend off rather than play in the exhibition.

Not Zetterberg. He missed the opportunity to play last year when his herniated disc began bothering him.

Zetterberg has yet to play in an All-Star Game, so he's looking forward to being part of the festivities.

"It would be awesome to play there," Zetterberg said of the Jan. 27 game. "It's still a long ways off, but if I'm healthy, I'm going."

As for the votes, Zetterberg said, "It's always nice to be voted in."

Hank Scores 22 Seconds into Game, Extends Home-Game Points Streak

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 21, 2007

Prior to tonight, Henrik Zetterberg had recorded at least one point in 31 of the last 33 games dating back to January 28th, 2007. The only two games he couldn’t muster a point in were surprisingly in St. Louis, against the Blues, the opponent that Zetterberg has statistically had the most success against in his NHL career.

After a pointless showing in a 1-0 loss against the Blues on February 8th, 2007, Hank went on a career-longest point streak of 24 games, in which he had 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points. Seven of the games were last season prior to Henrik suffering a season-ending lower back injury, in which he missed 19 games. He opened this season with a franchise record 17 game point scoring streak, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists, totaling a league-leading 27 points. But on November 13th it was the Blues again that shockingly brought both points streaks to an end. Prior to that game, Zetterberg had 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points and was a (plus/minus) +18 in 23 career games versus the Blues.

Tonight, in Detroit, at the Joe Louis Arena, he resumed his success against St. Louis. Hank scored a power-play goal just 22 seconds into the game after Blue’s defenseman Eric Brewer took a delay-of-game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass. The goal came six seconds into the power-play when Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom took a pass down low, drawing former Detroit net-minder Manny Legace to the right side of the net, and sent a back-handed pass across the crease to Zetterberg as he moved in towards the open net on the far side. It was the fastest goal from the start of a game in Zetterberg’s career. Coincidentally, his previous fastest goal to start a game was 33 seconds into a 5-3 win over, the St. Louis Blues, of course.

With the quick goal, his 15th of the season, Henrik extended his home-games point scoring streak to 26 straight games dating back to December 9th, 2006 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Zetterberg is second amongst NHL scoring leaders behind Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning, with 31 points (15 goals and 16 assists) in 21 games this season.

In the first week of NHL All-Star game fan balloting, future Hall-of-Famer Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg of the Detroit Red Wings are the top two Western Conference vote-getters with 80,903 and 58,074 votes.

'Hockeytown' has a Branch Office in Sweden

Karl Samuelson, NHL.com, Nov 20, 2007

Zetterberg is emerging as one of the best in the League in his own right. The 27-year-old forward paced the Red Wings with 33 goals last season and is entering the prime of his career.

“I just don’t know how they got that guy in the seventh round,” (ex-Red Wing, Brendan)Shanahan said. “There’s not a flaw in Zetterberg’s game. Zetterberg is the centerman version of Steve Larmer. He is the kind of guy you want on the ice for every single situation. The fact that he is a centerman and not a winger makes him more valuable. But it’s amazing how they got him 210th overall.”

“Zetterberg was a little bit of a late bloomer,” (Fellow Swede, Daniel)Alfredsson said. “He always had great talent and great vision and now he is getting stronger. He is put in those situations where he is the go-to guy and he is getting used to that. Zetterberg is definitely one of the biggest up-and-coming stars in the League.”

With Goal and Assist, Zetterberg Extends Home-Game Point Streak

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 17, 2007

Detroit Red Wings star forward Henrik Zetterberg scored his 14th goal of the season and added and assist (15th) in a 5-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at the Joe Louis Arena.

The points extend Zetterberg’s home-game point streak to 25 games, dating back to December 9th, 2006 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Henrik assisted on fellow Swede Tomas Holmstrom’s power-play goal that tied the match at two a piece in the second period.

Zetterberg scored his goal with just 31 seconds left in the second period, and gave the Red Wings a 3-2 lead heading into the third. Henrik’s linemate, Pavel Datsyuk, moved behind Chicago’s net and passed the puck back out in front to an open Zetterberg at the crease, as Blackhawk’s goalie Nikolai Khabibulin moved to the opposite side of the goal, anticipating a wrap-around attempt by Datsyuk. Zetterberg banged the puck in behind the net-minder. It’s his , more than he has scored on any other goaltender.

With two-points tonight, Hank remains second amongst NHL points leaders with 29 in 19 games. Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning has passed Zetterberg for the league lead with 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 19 games. Pittsburgh Penguins phenom Sidney Crosby has 28 points.

The Streak Stops in St. Louis

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 13, 2007

Of the 12 teams Henrik Zetterberg has played against during his 24 game points streak dating back to last season, surprisingly the St. Louis Blues, the opponent that Zetterberg has had the most success against in his NHL career, wasn’t one of them. Shockingly, the last two games that Zetterberg has gone pointless in, including tonight’s streak-ending 4-3 loss, have been in St. Louis. Henrik’s career-high points streak started after a 1-0 loss against the Blues on February 8th, 2007. In 23 other games versus the Blues, Zetterberg has 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points and is a (plus/minus) +18.

Zetterberg had recorded 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points during the 24 game point streak. Seven of the games were last season prior to Henrik suffering a season-ending lower back injury, in which he missed 19 games. He opened this season with a franchise record 17 game point scoring streak, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists, totaling a league-leading 27 points. The previous Red Wings record was Norm Ullman’s 14 straight games with at least one point at the beginning of the 1960-61 campaign.

Zetterberg still has a 24 game point-scoring streak in home games, dating back to December 9th, 2006 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Wings next game is in Detroit against the Black Hawks on Saturday the 17th. Hank has one goal and three assists in three matches versus Chicago this season. The Black Hawks have won all three games against the Red Wings this year.

Zetterberg Continues Point Streak

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 11, 2007

In a 3-2 loss to the Black Hawks tonight in Chicago, Detroit Red Wings' Henrik Zetterberg had an assist on a goal by Jiri Hudler to run his franchise record season-opening points streak to 17 games, and his overall points streak to 24 games.

Steve Yzerman holds the Red Wings record with 65 points (29 goals and 36 assists) in 28 straight games from November 1, 1988 to January 4, 1989.

Henrik, the NHL’s “First Star” of the month in October, still leads the NHL with 27 points (13 goals and 14 assists). Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins is second with 25 points in 17 games. Ilya Kovalchuk of the Atlanta Thrashers has a league-leading 14 goals.

Zetterberg now has 267 career points, passing Steve Chiasson for 34th place on the .

Z Keeps it Going with Late Goal

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 9, 2007

I was getting the feeling that tonight just wasn’t his night. It was beginning to look as if Henrik Zetterberg’s season-opening point-scoring streak was going to end at 15 games. But then, with just 1:28 left in tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Joe Louis Arena, Henrik scored a goal against Pascal Leclaire, one of the NHL’s hottest goalies, to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-1 win.

It wasn’t a close game, but through the majority of it, Columbus was finding a way to break the rhythm of the Red Wing’s top line of Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, and Tomas Holmstrom.

The scoring line didn’t appear to have their timing. The passes were there, just not on the tape. They weren’t crisp. The puck was bouncing.

Despite the Blue Jackets making it extremely difficult for Detroit’s scoring line, Zetterberg had several good opportunities to collect a point throughout the game. One of Henrik’s six shots on goal hit the post, short side, during a power-play in the second period. Later in the match, Z sent a spinning backhand pass to Kirk Maltby streaking in the slot. Maltby’s shot was stopped mid-air by the handle of Leclaire’s stick.

Then, with the clock winding down in the final two minutes of the third period, after a Red Wing’s power-play had just ended, Detroit defenseman Brian Rafalski sent a weak shot towards the net from the left point. Columbus defenseman Rostislav Klesla reached with his stick to block the shot in the slot, but tipped it right to Zetterberg, who was alone in the right face-off circle. Henrik corralled the loose puck and waited patiently for his shot while Klesla sprawled across the ice in attempt to get between Zetterberg and the net. Moving around the outstretched defender, Hank zipped a quick wrister through the five-hole of the Blue Jacket’s net-minder as he moved to his right.

The goal, Zetterberg’s 13th of the season, extends his point scoring streak to 16 games to start the season. Two days ago, Henrik broke the franchise record of 14 consecutive matches at the start of the year with at least one point, set by Norm Ullman in 1960. The NHL record is an untouchable 51 games set by Wayne Gretzky in 1983-84. More recently, Dany Heatley recorded points in 22 seasons to start the 2005-06 campaign for the Ottawa Senators.

Zetterberg has scored at least one point in 23 straight games dating back to February 11th, 2007 versus the Flames. Steve Yzerman holds the Red Wings record with 65 points (29 goals and 36 assists) in 28 straight games from November 1, 1988 to January 4, 1989.

Henrik, the NHL’s “First Star” of the month in October, still leads the NHL with 26 points (13 goals and 13 assists). Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins is second with 24 points in 16 games. Ilya Kovalchuk of the Atlanta Thrashers has a league-leading 14 goals.

With tonight’s goal, Zetterberg now has 122 in his career, with 144 assists for 266 career points, passing Ray Sheppard for 35th place on the .

Wings, Zetterberg Still Streaking

By Ted Kulfan, The Detroit News, November 10, 2007

The suspense wasn't whether the Red Wings would win, but rather, would Henrik Zetterberg get a point?

Having scored a point in every one of the Wings' previous 15 games, Zetterberg was held off the scoresheet Friday until scoring at 18:32 of the third period in the Wings' 4-1 victory over Columbus.

"He kept everyone in suspense," Nicklas Lidstrom said.

The Wings had just finished a power play when Zetterberg got the puck near the side of the net, patiently waited for a Columbus defender to slide out of position, then beat goalie Pascal Leclaire through the legs.

"It was kind of late this time," Zetterberg said. "We won the game, and that's the important thing."

The goal was Zetterberg's 13th of the season and league-leading 26th point. He has a point in all 16 games to start this season. Dating to last season, Zetterberg has gotten a point in 23 consecutive games.

"Of course, I didn't expect to start the season like this, but when you play with good players good things can happen," Zetterberg said. "I'm just going to try to keep it going."

"We're playing with confidence," Zetterberg said. "Defensively we're not allowing a lot of shots or chances. That gives you confidence."

Meet Mr. Everything

By Bill Clement, MSNBC.com, November 9, 2007

This is the best Henrik Zetterberg has played in his five years in the NHL. The top all-purpose forward in the league is having a huge season. Zetterberg's a solid scorer, but he also does so many other things for Detroit. He's one of the team's best defensive forwards, excels on face offs, kills penalties, and if needed he can play the point on the power play. The Swedish star is one of the most impressive players of the last several decades in the NHL.

Zetterberg didn't come into the league hailed as anything near the special player he has become. He was drafted by Detroit in the 7th round (210th overall) in 1999. But he's come a long way. Very often players take on the persona of the roll they are cast in. Zetterberg's been cast in the role of Mr. Everything and so he's performing like Mr. Everything. The key is keeping him healthy. Back spasms were an issue with him in the second half of last season, and they caused him to miss the last 19 games leading up to the playoffs.

Carhartt Honors Hank as 'Hardest Working Player'

By Doug Murphy, Detroit Red Wings, November 9th, 2007

As the NHL season skates along Red Wing superstar Henrik Zetterberg continues to compile awards. His latest award came when he was named the ‘Hardest Working’ Player of the Month for October. He received his award from Carhartt sponsorship and event specialist Sanja Zarubica during a pre-game ceremony on November 9.
During the 2007-08 regular-season, Carhartt will present the monthly award to the hardest working Red Wings’ player, along with Carhartt merchandise. The award will recognize the player for his hard work and individual dedication to commitment necessary to excel on the ice.
The Red Wings’ coaching staff and front office personnel will select recipients.
Through the month of October, Zetterberg led the league in total points with 22 (10 goals, 12 assists), helping the Wings to an impressive 10-2-1 record. He recorded seven multiple-point games, including three-point efforts against Chicago (Oct. 6) and Los Angeles (Oct. 14).
Zetterberg, 27, continues to dominate into November. He set a new mark for points scored in consecutive games to start the season, surpassing hall of famer Norm Ullman, who held the previous mark of 14 straight games to start the 1960-61 campaign.
Zetterberg’s point streak currently stands at 17 games. He has scored at least a point in 24 straight games dating to last season. He was last held scoreless on February 8, 2007 at St. Louis.
Carhartt and the Red Wings would like to recognize Henrik Zetterberg for his outstanding work and success during the month of October and wish him continued success throughout the remainder of the 2007-08 season.

Zetterberg Makes Red Wings History

By Bob Duff, Windsor Star, November 08, 2007

Enjoying a two-man advantage, Detroit Red Wings centre Henrik Zetterberg worked the puck down low, feeding a pass to linemate Tomas Holmstrom, parked in his usual office, the slot.

Holmstrom's one-timer clanged off the crossbar, banked off the stick of Nashville Predators goalie Chris Mason, then the knee of Detroit's Jiri Hudler and into the net.

That pool cue shot of a goal earned Zetterberg a place in the record book.

No other Red Wing has ever recorded a point in the first 15 games of the National Hockey League season.

Not Gordie Howe. Not Steve Yzerman. Not Marcel Dionne. Not Sergei Fedorov. Not even Norm Ullman, who'd set the previous mark of 14 games back in 1960-61.

In the grand scheme of things - and make no mistake about it, the Red Wings are a big-picture kind of club - might Zetterberg end a Detroit drought that has endured through the terms of nine American presidents?

Could Zetterberg become the first Red Wing to win the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring champion since Howe in 1962-63?

The Wings won for the eighth consecutive game, downing Nashville 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena and Zetterberg's assist maintained his place atop the NHL scoring leaders with 12-13-25 totals.

"It's been going good, but I think the whole team is playing good," Zetterberg said, shrugging off such grandiose dreams that he might need to rent a tux for the NHL awards show. "When you play with good players, it's easy to be good yourself.

"I play a lot of minutes, get a lot of opportunity on the power play and it's been clicking."

It's a far cry from a season ago, when Zetterberg recorded just three points through his first 11 games. This time around, Wings coach Mike Babcock quickly put his two aces, Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, together on the top line with Holmstrom.

"People ask me all the time, 'Is Hank going to lead the league in scoring?" Babcock said. "If the team wins and he does that, great, but that (statistics) doesn't seem to be a big goal. Winning seems to be the biggest goal."

For that reason, the belief is that Zetterberg simply won't be up with the front-runners at the finish line, but Zetterberg's most daunting foe may not be history, but rather himself. He's been the victim of some serious injuries in the past, losing 19 games to an inflamed disc in his back last season and 21 contests to a (broken leg) in 2003-04.

If Zetterberg can stay healthy, though, he could shoot his way to a rare feat for a Detroit player.

Zetterberg Breaks Franchise Record

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 7, 2007

After getting an assist on Jiri Hudler’s power-play goal in the second period of tonight’s 3-2 Shoot-out win over the Nashville Predators, Henrik Zetterberg has collected at least one point in 15 consecutive games to open the 2007-08 season. The streak breaks a Detroit Red Wings record set by Norm Ullman, who had a 14 game point scoring streak to start the 1960-61 season.

The NHL record is an untouchable 51 games set by Wayne Gretzky in 1983-84. More recently, Dany Heatley recorded points in 22 seasons to start the 2005-06 campaign for the Ottawa Senators. Zetterberg has tied Jaromir Jagr’s points in 15 consecutive games at the start of the year, a feat Jagr achieved in 1999-00.

Zetterberg has scored at least one point in 22 straight games dating back to February 11th, 2007 versus the Flames. Steve Yzerman holds the Red Wings record with 65 points (29 goals and 36 assists) in 28 straight games from November 1, 1988 to January 4, 1989.

Henrik, the NHL’s “First Star” of the month in October, still leads the NHL with 25 points (12 goals and 13 assists). He is closely trailed by Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby who has 23 points in 15 games. Without a regulation goal tonight, Zetterberg now trails Ilya Kovalchuk of the Atlanta Thrashers by one goal for the league lead. Kovalchuk has 13. Henrik had a shoot-out goal against Predator’s goalie Chris Mason, giving the Red Wings the victory at the Joe Louis Arena.

Red Wings Rolling Behind Zetterberg

By Dan Di Sciullo, The Sports Network, November 2, 2007

Meet Henrik Zetterberg, a 27-year-old Swede who is tearing up the scoresheet this season and has been the biggest part of Detroit's stellar start to the 2007-08 season.

Through his team's first 14 games of the season, Zetterberg has been downright prolific, leading the league in both goals (12) and points (24). Zetterberg has recorded at least a point in every game this season to tie a Red Wings record for longest point streak to begin a campaign, along with Norm Ulman, who achieved the same feat in the 1960-61 season.

For his efforts, Zetterberg was named the NHL's No. 1 star for the month of October. Zetterberg's lightning-quick start to the season has some hockey pundits proclaiming that "Zata" (the letter Z in Swedish) is now the best player in the National Hockey League.

The rate at which Zetterberg's points are coming this season is astounding, but it's not like the forward was an unknown entity heading into the campaign.

Zetterberg's best season in the NHL came in the first year after the lockout, when he notched 85 points (39 goals, 46 assists) while playing in 77 games. However, last year was a bit of a disappointment, as he notched 68 points (33g, 35a) and missed a big chunk of the season due to back spasms. Yet, Zetterberg was still given the Viking Award, as the top Swede playing in North America.

If there is any knock on Zetterberg, it is that he is not big enough to endure the physical side of hockey on a game-to-game basis. At 5-11, 176 pounds, he relies more on his playmaking ability and unbelievable hockey sense to dominate the game.

Zetterberg's lack of size is likely one of the reasons the Red Wings were able to steal the native of Njurunda, Sweden in the seventh round of the 1999 draft.

After Detroit picked Zetterberg, it became increasingly obvious what kind of talent the franchise had on its hands. He played two years in the Swedish Elite League and was named the Rookie of the Year in 2000-01, and the league's Most Valuable Player for the 2001-02 campaign.

In 2002-03 Zetterberg headed to the NHL and had very little difficulty adapting to the North American game. Zetterberg's rookie year in the NHL was an unqualified success, as he became one of the finalists for the Calder Trophy by notching 22 goals and 22 assists in 79 games. He ultimately lost out on the Calder to St. Louis defenseman Barret Jackman, but Zetterberg was named Sporting News Rookie of the Year, an award voted on by NHL players.

Still, for some reason, Zetterberg had been able to fly under the radar outside of Detroit up until this year's early-season scoring barrage. Perhaps the presence of NHL legends like Nicklas Lidstrom, Dominik Hasek and Chris Chelios in Hockeytown have allowed the young Swede to avoid the hype associated with the Sidney Crosbys and Alex Ovechkins of the NHL world.

Speaking of Crosby and Ovechkin, it is difficult to compare Zetterberg with those players at the moment considering that the overall situation in Detroit is much healthier. Crosby and Ovechkin are called upon to do just about everything for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals, respectively, while Zetterberg plays on one of the most-balanced teams in the NHL.

The strength of Detroit is the team's amazing defensive corps which features Lidstrom, who is Zetterberg's countryman and teammate on Sweden's Gold Medal- winning team at the 2006 Torino Olympics.

However, Zetterberg has led the team in the early stages of this season and could redefine the Red Wings in his own image. With the talented Swede at the helm, Detroit would no longer be a team of aging veterans who fail to inspire confidence at playoff time, but instead, a dangerous mix of experience and offensive potency.

Zetterberg is on his way to a breakout season for one of the league's most marketable franchises. He has a chance to be the next great Swedish player now that Peter Forsberg's foot problems have left his playing status in limbo.

Fans in Detroit have known for the past few years the kind of talent Zetterberg has at his disposal, and the time has now come for hockey fans everywhere to appreciate "Zata".

Zetterberg Ties Club Record with Points in 14 Straight Games to Start the Season

By Chris Turner, Zetterbergfan.com, November 1, 2007

He just keeps it going game after game.

Henrik Zetterberg did it again tonight, scoring the game-winning goal and adding another in the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames tonight.  With the two goals, Zetterberg now leads the NHL with 12 goals and has 12 assists for a league-leading 24 points in 14 straight games to start the 2007-08 season. The streak of at least one point in each game so far this season (14) ties a Detroit Red Wings franchise record set by Norm Ullman in 1960.  Additionally, Zetterberg has scored at least one point in 21 straight games dating back to February 11th, 2007 versus the Flames.

Henrik’s first goal of the match, scored at 10:44 of the first period, gave the Wings a 2-1 lead and ended up being the game-winner, remarkably his first of the year. Pavel Datsyuk battled for the puck along the left boards and chipped a back-handed pass that bounced to Zetterberg who was open in the left face-off circle. Zetterberg one-timed the bouncing puck past Flames goalie Mikka Kiprusoff who was screened by Detroit forward Tomas Holmstrom.

Zetterberg scored his second goal of the game on the power-play, knocking in a rebound of a shot by Datsyuk that bounced off of Kiprusoff, with Holmstrom in front of the crease once again. The tally made it a 4-1 game.

Henrik’s two-goal night comes on the day he was named the NHL’s Player of the Month for the month of October. He continues to be on a tear in which he has scored 43 goals and registered 89 points in the last 65 games since November 2006. He is on pace for 70 goals and 70 assists this season.

He Shoots, He Scores

By Ted Kulfan, Detroit News, November 1, 2007

(Henrik) Zetterberg is leading the league in shots with 71. Ranger and former Wing Brendan Shanahan is next with 63.

"You have to shoot to score," said Zetterberg, who leads the league with 22 points. Calgary's Jarome Iginla is next with 19. "You should take the shot, especially when Homer (Tomas Holmstrom ) is in front of the net."

This is a new Zetterberg, because early in his career, coaches such as Dave Lewis and then Babcock, were pleading for Zetterberg to shoot more. But Zetterberg has a reason for his passion to pass early in his career.

"I had Brett Hull as a linemate, and he had a 1,000 times better shot than me," Zetterberg said. "And he was always open."

Expressen: Zetterberg will land $47 million contract

Posted by George James Malik, Mlive.com,  November 01, 2007

Sweden's media outlets are following Detroit Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg's tremendous start very closely, and Expressen's Mattias Eriksson suggests that Zetterberg's in line for a Heatley-esque $7.8 million contract from the Red Wings:

November 1, Expressen (roughly translated): Stays in Detroit - for 300 million SEK [$47 million USD]

He is the world's hotest hockey player presently. Now, Henrik Zetterberg wants to [sign] one [more] contract with Detroit - that can give him over [$47 million U.S. Dollars].

"I [would] stay gladly in Detroit [for entire career," says "Zäta."

Henrik Zetterberg leads NHL's point gang. But ensured the salary [of] "Zäta" [is] considerably farther down [the list], earning just over [$2.67 million] in yearly salary, a contract that also stretches [itself] over next season.

[Next] summer Zetterbergs agent, Marc Levine, may begin negotiate about a new contract - and the Super-Swede has clearly for itself what[ever] he wants to [get]:

"It is to stay in same club for my entire career, but I would do it gladly in Detroit," says Zetterberg.

"Zäta's" radar-partner in Detroit, Pavel Datsuk, typed last summer one six-year contract that [gives him] a yearly salary of $43 million USD--and the total is worth over 300 million Swedish Kronor.

Better contract

Zetterberg's success and status [suggest] that he will [get a] still better contract than Datsjuk.

"Certainly, it's positive that it goes good now, and continues it so there will be a [wage increase] for me. I have huge difficulties to [imagine] that I [would] go to someone else's club only in order to [earn a] few some million [more], says Zetterberg.

Agent Marc Levine: Henrik and I have not spoken a lot about the future, but [Henrik] says he that he wants to stay in Detroit [for his] entire career, so I have a job to do.[/quote]

Zetterberg, Leclaire and Flames forward Iginla named NHL three stars of month

NHL.com, Nov 1, 2007

Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg, Columbus goaltender Pascal Leclaire and Calgary forward Jarome Iginla were named the NHL's three stars of the month Thursday.

Zetterberg took the first star after recording points in each of the Red Wings' 13 games in October. He led the league in scoring with 22 points (10-12) and helped Detroit finish the month on top of the league's overall standings with 21 points.

Zetterberg had seven multiple-point games, including three-point efforts against Chicago on Oct. 6 and Los Angeles on Oct. 14.
